The Emergency Shelter serves all populations and is free of charge. Men, women and children utilize the night shelter that provides a safe, secure place to sleep, warm evening meals, clean shower and laundry facilities. Single women and families are housed on the main floor; single men remain in the basement dorm. The length of stay may be as short as one or two nights due to an urgent crisis or sudden loss of housing. Generally, clients are allowed to stay up to 60 days if the clients are working with the case manager, setting goals, securing employment.

Case Management is offered to all clients at the shelter or in other programs to promote self-sufficiency. The staff works with clients to gain tools and facilitates a successful re-entry into the community by coordinating with other local agencies for various resources.Aid For Friends offers case management services to facilitate successful reintegration into society. The case manager works with other agencies to provide resources necessary toward the realization of personal growth.
T ransitional Housing Program is a structured program for single adults, couples and families to assist them while they stabilize back into the community. The clients may reside in the program for up to two years. Case management meetings and weekly house inspections are mandatory. Tenants may pay up to 30% of their adjusted monthly gross income and a savings program provides incentives for successful completion of the program. Financial fitness and budgeting classes are provided and taught by Pocatello Neighborhood Housing Services .
Aid For Friends is the Property Manager of 11 affordable housing units for people that are homeless based on HUD’s criteria. Other partnering local service providers such as Bannock Youth Foundation, Family Services Alliance and private service providers also utilize this housing program as well as clients from the Emergency Shelter. Referrals may come from numerous community sources.
Representative Payee plays a vital role in serving the financial needs of elderly, veterans and disabled persons. Aid For Friends is a certified payee program administered through the Social Security Administration. The payee program serves over 250 clients each month. The program ensures that the client’s rent and bills are paid; and records of all the clients’ expenditures are maintained.
Other Community Services: Aid For Friends acts as the coordinator for the Fellowship Funds sponsored by the Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship. This fund may provide authorized services and assistance to referred individuals.
Aid For Friends receives clothing and household items that are offered to anyone in need in the Community.
